Strawberry Bread

Well it seems that it is still hot out, summer is coming to an end. So Here is something quick and easy to finish off those strawberry’s out of the garden.

“Strawberry Bread”

3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 10 oz. pkg. sliced frozen strawberries’
thawed with juice
1 1/4 cup salad oil
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts)
4 slightly beaten eggs

Mix flour, sugar, baking soda and cinnamon together in a bowl. Make a well and add strawberries’, nuts, eggs and oil.
Mix thoroughly and put into 2 loaf pans (greased and flour both pans). Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Was out side picking fresh strawberries and though of a great bread recipe for too nights supper, so I went over to the raspberry bush and yes I will have fresh berries for dessert along with my Strawberry Bread.

Strawberry Bread

3 eggs
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups strawberries
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs, sugar, berries, oil and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add other ingredients and beat well.
Fill greased and floured pans 1/2 full. Bake at 350º for 1 hour. Makes 2 loafs.

Here is something I found and want to share, Standard Rolls is a recipe that upon making you can add different things to make over a dozen different recipes. Like Orange Rolls, Potato Rolls, Hot Cross Buns, Pinwheel Rolls and so many more. So have fun and remember, Breads were a staple to every meal of the day.

Standard Rolls
Milk-scalded, 2 cups shortening (part or all butter),
1/4 cup sugar,
1/4 cup salt,
1 1/2 tsp. compressed yeast,
2 cakes water-lukewarm,
1/4 cup all purpose flour-sifted, 5 to 6 cups

Combine scalded milk, shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in lukewarm water; stir and combine with cooled milk mixture; add about half the flour; beat well. Add enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough; mix thoroughly...
